TESTIMONIALS

“

I'm a contemporary with the main character and understand what he went through. Most outside observers don't know what life is really like in Cuba for the vast majority. If you were not part of the government, you basically had no way of surviving. And to submit to that type of life...awful. This book shows it clearly.

“

What a strong sister Reynaldo had the fortune of having by his side. I lived in Cuba during that same period and I can attest to the fact that life was hard. Everyone was always looking for a way to make it. My mom used to roast coffee beans and mix it with dry peas and sell it, just to put food on the table. Risky

“

I'm the daughter of a Cuban immigrant. As I grew up, I heard the stories about life in Cuba but never concerned myself with it. But reading this book, waves of regret come over me for not really appreciating my Dad's life and that of his family before the U.S. I never realized the influence and impact so many had on Cuba. Wow.

Reynaldo, a teenage boy, forced by the Cuban communist government to remain in Cuba while the rest of his family was exiled to the United States. Even though he was afflicted by polio at an early age, he began a dangerous plot to leave the country by infiltrating the inner workings of the government.

Rosa, his older sister and one of the family members forced to leave Cuba, would have the opportunity to help her brother finalize his plan to escape. A beautiful, charming and confident woman would be the perfect compliment that Reynaldo needs to be successful. Their resolve would be tested.
